Incomplete, anonymous, abusive or unsupported complaints may not be processed until sufficient information is provided.
Grievance Redressal Process
TV TODAY BHARAT will make reasonable efforts to acknowledge a properly submitted grievance within 24 hours.
The Chief Grievance Officer will review the complaint, examine the published material and verify the available evidence. Where required, the editorial team may contact the complainant, reporter, editor, concerned authority or another relevant party for clarification.
A decision will ordinarily be communicated to the complainant within 15 days from the registration of the grievance, in accordance with the applicable grievance-redressal framework for digital news publishers. The current rules require a publisher to appoint an India-based Grievance Officer, display the officer’s contact details and decide grievances within the prescribed period.
Possible Action
After reviewing the complaint, TV TODAY BHARAT may take one or more of the following actions:
- Correct a verified factual error
- Add an update or correction note
- Clarify incomplete or potentially misleading information
- Update a headline, caption, image or video description
- Include the response of the affected party
- Restrict or remove content where legally necessary
- Reject the grievance with reasons where no error or violation is established
A difference of opinion, political disagreement or dissatisfaction with an editorial position will not automatically be treated as a factual error.
Escalation
TV TODAY BHARAT Grievance Officer: A complainant who does not receive a decision within the prescribed period, or who is dissatisfied with the publisher’s decision, may use the escalation mechanism available under the applicable rules, including an appeal to the self-regulating body of which the publisher is a member.
Under the official grievance framework, the publisher acknowledges a complaint within 24 hours and addresses it within 15 days. The rules also provide for further escalation through the relevant self-regulating body and the government oversight mechanism.
